ITOX Launches ECX Single Board Computer - ML936-B16C
New Product Features Low Power 1.6GHz Intel® AtomTM Processor Z530P
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - May 19, 2009 - ITOX, a leading provider of embedded x86 products and the
United States affiliate of DFI-ACP, today announces a new ECX single board computer (SBC) ML936-
B16C based on the low-power 1.6GHz Intel® AtomTM processor Z530P and the Intel® System Controller
Hub (SCH) US15WP. The Embedded Compact Extended (ECX) form-factor is an Intel® open standard
with board dimensions of 105 mm x 146 mm (4.13" x 5.75"). With the same mounting-hole dimensions as
3.5" subcompact form-factor SBCs, the ITOX ML936-B16C ECX board is a "drop-in" replacement in
many of these applications.
Featuring Intel® Hyper-Threading, Intel® Virtualization and Enhanced Intel® SpeedStep® technologies
the ML936-B16C is ideal for thermally-constrained fanless embedded applications requiring a high-
performance x86 SBC with configuration flexibility. Intel's 45nm Hi-k metal gate silicon technology used
on this Intel® AtomTM processor and chipset platform reduces power consumption to less-than five
watts, while boosting switching speed and transistor density over previous 65nm technology. A single 12
VDC power input on the ML936-B16C SBC simplifies configuration in embedded applications, and
further reduces system cost.

requirements with a high-performance revision-stable platform having guaranteed long-term availability

larger-footprint 1.0 mm ball pitch Intel® AtomTM XL processor and chipset eases PCB layout and board
manufacturing, with the cost-savings passed on to our customers."
The feature-rich ML936-B16C ECX SBC utilizes one 200-pin SODIMM socket for up to 2GB DDR2
400/533 MHz system memory, and includes one PCI Express Gigabit LAN controller, four USB 2.0 ports,
two serial COM ports, one PS/2 port, CompactFlash memory socket, SDIO/MMC memory socket, one
IDE Ultra ATA/100 interface, one Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 header, and 24-bit HD audio with
S/PDIF I/O. An integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 500 within the Intel® SCH US15WP
provides a DVI graphics port and an LVDS display interface supporting 18-bit and 24-bit panels.
To provide additional I/O capability, ITOX has implemented an expansion daughterboard option for the
ML936-B16. The first expansion daughterboard design is EXT-ECX2, providing four USB 2.0 ports, four
serial COM ports, one Mini PCI Express expansion slot, and an 8-line GPIO interface. In addition,
custom expansion daughterboard services are available for accommodating customer-specific
requirements, including proprietary circuitry.
The ITOX ML936-B16C ECX SBC is a high-performance, low-power
platform designed for embedded applications, including digital signage,
ATM/POS terminals, kiosks, industrial automation and control, gaming,
medical diagnostics & health care, interactive client, and security.

based model is also available as ITOX model number ML936-B11. The ML936-B11 ECX SBC provides
all of the features of the ML936-B16, except Intel® Hyper-Threading support.
