ITOX Announces New ECX Single Board Computer

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – July 16, 2007 – ITOX, a leading provider of embedded x86 products, today introduced the CT930-B Embedded Compact Extended (ECX) single board computer (SBC) into its Long-Life product line. The ECX small form factor SBC is an Intel® open standard with board dimensions of 105mm x 146mm (4.13” x 5.75”). This reduced board size provides nearly a 50% space reduction over Mini-ITX boards, making it ideal for new designs requiring a small x86 SBC with configuration flexibility. The CT930-B is also a drop-in upgrade for existing 3.5” applications, since both form factors use the same mounting dimensions.
“Computer-On-Module (COM) solutions provide a high-degree of flexibility, but are costly and not always the best design solution,” said Robert Liao, vice president, ITOX Applied Computing. “Unlike the carrier board required in COM applications, the ECX standard provides for customization using an expansion daughterboard. This provides for faster and more cost-effective interface configuration for use in many applications such as, medical diagnostic equipment, POS/ATM equipment, portable test equipment and mobile applications.”
The CT930-B SBC utilizes a Mobile Intel® 945GM Express chipset supported under Intel’s Embedded Architecture program, and accepts a wide performance-range of Intel mPGA 479 packaged processors. This includes the Intel® Core™ Duo processor featuring dual-core architecture, Intel® Core™ Solo processor, Intel® Celeron® M processor. Low power LV and ULV processor equipped versions of the CT930-B are available on special order.
The first expansion board in the ECX product line, EXT-ECX1, provides two additional USB 2.0 ports, one mini PCI card slot and one DVI graphics interface. The DVI graphics interface operates simultaneous with the VGA and LVDS graphics interfaces on the CT930-B SBC, providing true dual-display capability. Additional board designs are in development and custom board design services are available now.
